UTC holding “Research Commercialization Day: Inspiring the Innovation Mindset” this Wednesday
Tom Waters, an intellectual property and business start-up executive, headlines a program this Wednesday for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s (UTC) first-ever “Research Commercialization Day: Inspiring the Innovation Mindset.”
Currently the Assistant Director for Start-ups at the University of South Florida, Waters is also a UTC alumnus. The 30-year veteran working in product development, market intelligence and business start-ups will speak from 10:45 a.m. to 12 noon on the topic of “Commercializing Innovation Through Partnerships.”
The event is organized by UTC’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and sponsored by the Clarence E. Harris Chair of Excellence in Entrepreneurship of the Gary W. Rollins College of Business. Other support is being provided by the UTC Commercialization Counselor and the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research.
Waters will share his insights as one participant in a series of events focused on start-ups, commercialization and developing commercialization plans. The public is welcome to attend his presentation on the second floor of the Mapp Building, 410 East Eighth Street on the UTC campus. More details and registration information are here.
An afternoon workshop, “Storytelling the Market: Conveying the Value Proposition of a New Research Innovation,” is for UTC faculty and graduate students.
