“UT Social Media Week” includes national speakers

Courtney Childers, Assistant Professor of Advertising at the University of Tennessee (UT), Knoxville, recently alerted teknovation.biz to plans for the 2013 “UT Social Media Week.”

“We have speakers coming in from across the United States to share their social media expertise,” she explained about the event that kicks-off April 2. Those speakers include Morgan Andrew, Social Media Coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons; Margo Hughes, Dunkin Donuts Field Marketing Manager; Andrew Foust, Digital Business Development Manager for McCormick & Company, Inc.; Kevin Kirksey, Senior Director for Brand Communications and Digital – North America, NIKE; Matt Ridings, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SideraWorks; and a team from Erwin Penland.

Many of the presenters are also UT alumni.

The full schedule of events is available at http://cci.utk.edu/social-media-week. Unless otherwise noted, sessions are open to the public and are being held in the Communications Building on campus. For those who cannot come to campus, Childers said all sessions are carried live and archived on UStream at www.ustream.tv/channel/utsmw.

“We are working really hard to put the College of Communication and Information and the School of Advertising and Public Relations ‘on the map’ for social media education,” Childers.
