UT Board removes “Interim” from Randy Boyd’s title, appoints him President for five plus years
As expected, the University of Tennessee (UT) Board of Trustees yesterday unanimously removed the “Interim” word from Randy Boyd’s title, making him simply President of UT for a period that will run until at least June 30, 2025.
“I have dedicated the rest of my life to giving back,” Boyd told the Trustees and those watching the virtual meeting soon after the formal vote. Saying that he had “learned a lot through the process” that included stakeholder public meetings on every campus, Boyd thanked the Board for its trust and confidence. “This is the honor of my life and an incredible opportunity,” Boyd said. “We are destined to do great things in spite of the chaos around us.”
The Knoxville native is well-known for his support of entrepreneurship and the philanthropic generosity of his wife, Jenny, and himself.
