UPDATE: EDA award was to UT CIS, not UTK
The now 60-year old organization will be working with workforce boards across the state to expand workforce services in rural areas.
In yesterday’s edition of teknovation.biz, we posted a brief in the weekly “News & Notes” section that referenced an award of $748,849 by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) to the University of Tennessee (UT), Knoxville to bolster Tennessee’s manufacturing sector.
That’s what EDA posted. However, the grant was actually to the UT System, specifically the UT Center for Industrial Services (UT CIS), an industrial extension program celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
“We’ll be working with workforce boards across the state to expand workforce services in rural areas,” said Executive Director Paul Jennings. “We’re very excited about the opportunity.”
