
U of Memphis awards $10,000 to six student start-ups
They were among 17 teams competing in the 2025 Tiger Tank competition.
The University of Memphis Crews Center for Entrepreneurship and the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music hosted the 2025 Tiger Tank competition last week, awarding $10,000 in cash prizes to innovative student ventures.
Hosted at the FedEx Institute of Technology, Tiger Tank had 17 teams compete, representing a broad spectrum of industries including artificial intelligence, sustainability, education, social enterprise, fashion, consumer products, food and beverage, music, hospitality, and medical devices.
Winners in the general Tiger Track competition were:
- First Prize: CoMerch ($2,500) to Ayesha Issah and Kristina Mwangeka;
- Second Prize: ChromAid ($1,500) to Onyinyechukwu Okoli and Sumiran Sharma; and
- Third Prize: Hurt2Healing ($1,000) to Sydnie Allen.
Winners of the Cordell Jackson Music Venture Fund were:
- First Prize: Brass Routes ($2,500) to Dylan Mashburn;
- Second Prize: Once Lost But Now Found ($1,500) to Quanita Hankins; and
- Third Prize: Music Meets Ministry ($1,000) to Joshua Johnson.
Winners of the Audience Impact Awards were:
- Hurt2Healing (Sydnie Allen); and
- Moe Monei Apparel LLC (Moesha Henderson).
