TVFCU awards $175,000 to 11 small businesses

Since its creation in 2018, the credit union's "Idea Leap Grant" competition has awarded about $500,000.

Eleven businesses in Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia took home a combined $175,000 during the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union‘s (TVFCU) sixth annual “Idea Leap Grant” competition.

Hosted in three locations for the first time ever, the program was launched in 2018 and is an extension of the credit union’s Idea Leap Loan Initiative which was created specifically for small businesses in 2016. To date, TVFCU has funded more than $5 million in loans to emerging and early-stage businesses through the loan initiative and has awarded about $500,000 in “Idea Leap Grants” and related scholarships.

The TVFCU serves a 17-county area.

A total of $50,000 was distributed to small businesses in the Cleveland/Ocoee area and North Georgia, while $75,000 was awarded to companies in the Chattanooga area.

The top winner in the Gig City was Cocoa Asante which was awarded $30,000. Other winners and their award amounts were: Simply Props ($15,000); RMJ Tactical ($10,000); The Local Juicery ($10,000); and The Professional Cleaning Solution ($10,000).

Those taking home money is the Cleveland/Ocoee region were Direct Primary Care Associates ($25,000); Biskit NV ($15,000); and Rods Rockin Rolls ($10,000).
