Three more out-of-state events for two Knoxville companies are cancelled

Three more events involving two Knoxville companies have hit the “stop” button due to concerns about the coronavirus. In one case, it’s the second postponement for the start-up in just days.

Eric Grant, Founder of Quantum Lock LLC, told us by email late yesterday that the “Stu Clark Investment Competition” at the University of Manitoba is cancelled. She was scheduled to compete at the end of the week and had planned to personally pay for her travel after the University of Tennessee, Knoxville banned any university-supported out-of-state trips. Just yesterday we reported that the annual “Rice Business Plan Competition” where Grant was to compete March 26-28 had also been cancelled.

In the case of EDP Biotech Inc. , Chief Executive Officer Eric Mayer said the March 23 “2020 New Orleans Health Innovators Challenge” and the end of month meeting in Tempe of the Early Detection Research Network, an initiative of the National Cancer Institute, have been cancelled. EDP Biotech was the winner of the “I Deserve It Challenge” hosted by Tulane University and Ujamaa Economic Development and was scheduled to present the company at the New Orleans event.
