“TechTalk Summits” plans first Knoxville event on Thursday

TechTalk Summits

A relatively young national organization that will hold more than a 100 “TechTalk Summits” across the country this year is bringing one of those evening programs to Knoxville this week.

The event begins at 5 p.m. Thursday (February 9) at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse with registration, plenty of food and an open bar, according to Mike Healy, Managing Director of the organization. The formal program, which begins at 5:45 p.m., will feature three or four presentations from summit sponsors. You can see the topics here.

“We target senior level IT folks,” Healy says in explaining the sessions that include stops during the upcoming week in Memphis and Nashville, too.

This is the first time that TechTalk Summits has held an event in Knoxville.

“Our company was started by event planners to take care of smaller regional markets,” Healy explained. “We will hold one of our summits in every major metro area this year.”

He said the organization offers healthcare-focused events, which describes the one set for Memphis, and more general IT summits like the one that will be held in Knoxville.

The combination networking and formal program model appear to be working. When we talked to Healy on Friday afternoon, he said that 100 individuals had registered for the Memphis and Nashville summits, while 50 were registered at that time for Knoxville.

“Some of the sessions have gone until 10 or 11 p.m.,” Healy says. The length depends on the amount of time the attendees want to ask questions of the presenters during the formal program and continue networking into the evening.

There is no cost, but pre-registration is requested. Here’s a link to the Knoxville event on February 9 as well as the summit in Nashville the same evening.

“We give CIOs, CTOs, IT Directors and staff the opportunity to learn about transformative technologies crucial to systems that manage, store, transmit and protect public and private data,” the TechTalk organization says on its webpage. “TechTalk regional information technologies events showcase the latest products and services in a relaxed, thought leadership format. Topics cover the issues you face every day.”

Healy says TechTalk Summits is exploring starting a newsletter as well as providing webinars.
