Techstars reportedly expanding into Columbus in partnership with Ohio State
Recruitment is underway for a Managing Director for what appears to be a software innovation-focused program.
Columbus Inno reports that Techstars is expanding into the Columbus region in partnership with The Ohio State University (OSU).
According to the article, a job listing seeks an on-site Managing Director for “Techstars Columbus Accelerator Powered by The Ohio State University.” The post appeared on LinkedIn and other job boards. The article also notes that, as part of a $110 million donation to OSU to create the Center for Software Innovation, plans were announced for an accelerator. It is the largest single gift in the university’s history and comes from Ratmir and Angela Timashev through the Timashev Family Foundation.
The Columbus Inno article also references this article in the OSU alumni magazine that mentions a start-up accelerator but does not link it to Techstars. However, the job listing clearly indicates the software innovation focus. The LinkedIn listing reads as follows:
We are seeking a Managing Director (MD) who can take the helm and lead our Accelerator and investment strategy for Techstars Columbus powered by The Ohio State University. This program will focus on software innovation. Your focus is to invest in the best founders, companies and support them from ideation to exit. You will actively recruit, select, mentor and guide founders through challenges, critical decisions, strategy, tactics, securing investment, making hard decisions and celebrating their wins. You will be directly supported by a Program Manager (PM) who focuses on program operations and with you, executing the Techstars proven playbook and delivering the best possible experience for Founders. The MD sets the strategic direction and investment thesis of the program, including developing a curated team of mentors, investors and business advisors.
