Tampa Bay leaders band together to tell the story of their ecosystem
The topic of this article should resonate with many in Knoxville. After all, it was a central finding of the regional assessment of the technology ecosystem unveiled earlier this year (see teknovation.biz article here.)
Some of the biggest players in the Tampa Bay, FL tech scene have formed an initiative to spread the word on the momentum of their ecosystem. Dubbed “Hi Tampa Bay,” the initiative is the brainchild of executives from Florida Funders, Strategic Property Partners and two newly relocated tech entrepreneurs.
“We were bemoaning, ‘Why can’t we be as promotions-oriented as [Miami Mayor] Francis Suarez?'” said Marc Blumenthal, General Partner at Florida Funders. “We have a story to tell; we don’t have to compete with Miami, but who’s telling our story?”
A number of economic development groups are also involved including the City of Tampa, Tampa Bay Economic Development Council, St. Petersburg Economic Development Corporation, Enterprise Florida, and Synapse Florida.
