“Start-up Day” accepting applications for pitch competition

Start-up DayHere’s a call for all entrepreneurs interested in making a pitch to investors in mid-November and vying for a cash prize of $5,000.

Knoxville’s third annual “Start-up Day” is set for the afternoon of Thursday, November 19. There’s a new venue – the historic Bijou Theater in Downtown Knoxville.

More details about the program will be released in the coming weeks, so the most important actions are these: (1) put the event on your calendar; and (2) submit an application to pitch, if you are so inclined, by the deadline of October 6. The application can be accessed on this link.

Those selected to pitch on November 19 will be notified by October 16.

One alum of the two previous “Start-up Day” events will be selected to receive the inaugural “Traction Award” given by the UT Federal Credit Union.

“Start-up Day” is coordinated by a steering committee that includes the University of Tennessee Research Foundation, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Knoxville Entrepreneur Center, Tech 2020, Launch Tennessee, and Pershing Yoakley & Associates, the power behind teknovation.biz.
