SpotRocket ranks nation’s most promising start-ups for job seekers

SpotRocketHere’s a story on a new and somewhat intriguing start-up founded by students at the Harvard University Business School. Named SpotRocket, it is billed as a site that ranks the nation’s most promising start-ups (i.e., “rockets”) to help recent college graduates find great places to work.

SpotRocket’s secret sauce is its proprietary algorithm that aggregates qualitative and quantitative metrics. Those metrics include funding, investor pedigree, growth, Web traffic, and social media influence.

There’s a Beta site available, so we decided to peruse it. You can find a good deal of information, everything from national rankings to scores for start-ups in a specific state.

The highest ranked Tennessee start-up is GTI-Aldis, the local company whose updated profile was posted just yesterday on teknovation.biz. Close behind was another Knoxville company – ABT Molecular Imaging. Both Chattanooga and Knoxville were reasonably represented, although the Nashville area scored the most listed companies thanks to the region’s healthcare and IT sectors.
