Mississippi announces partnership to launch the state’s AI Innovation Hub.

According to a report by WRAL News, North Carolina is one of a dozen states that could benefit from the new Stargate initiative announced with great fanfare at the White House. The other states include Arizona, California, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
The joint venture involving OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank plans to invest up to $500 billion for infrastructure tied to artificial intelligence (AI). The first site is already under construction in Texas. According to the article, one of the Stargate facilities would: (1) generate 41,625 jobs including 14,000 in construction jobs plus jobs supported through business-to-business transactions and jobs supported by worker spending; (2) provide $40 billion in revenue; and (3) give a $6.6 billion boost to the state’s gross domestic product.

Earlier this month, the Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services announced its partnership with Amazon Web Services and the Mississippi Artificial Intelligence (AI) Network (MAIN) to launch the state’s AI Innovation Hub. This hub, created through Governor Tate Reeve’s Executive Order #1584, will foster collaborations and research among state agencies, higher education, and Mississippi’s private sector to develop and accelerate the deployment of AI in enhancing public services, boosting economic growth, and workforce development.

Innovation Depot is accepting applications through 11:59 p.m. CST on February 23 for the 10th cohort of its Voltage accelerator. The program is designed to support entrepreneurs who have an idea for a tech or tech-enabled business as they translate that idea into a prototype.
Voltage is a five-week program for entrepreneurs with training sessions held outside of traditional 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. working hours.
