Software is focus of next week’s final “Venture Match”

Venture MatchSoftware is the focus area for the final session of the current “Venture Match” series set for 5 to 7 p.m. next Wednesday, September 25.

The four-part series has been coordinated by LaunchTN and Tech 20/20 and in partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the University of Tennessee Research Foundation (UT).

Next week brings a different format, venue and starting time. The location is the Atrium of the Cherokee Mills Building, 2240 Sutherland Avenue. Attendees should enter through the main entrance to the building near the west end.

“There is a tremendous amount of software development in this region,” said Jill Van Beke of LaunchTN, adding that this fact is not widely known.

Because of the nature and relative robustness of the sector, the format will be changed from a few companies making longer presentations to 10 fast-paced, three-slide, three-minute pitches. There will also be audience voting at the end to select the “People’s Choice Winner.”

“We believe this will be a good format for developers to find collaborators,” Van Beke said.

The companies or individuals expected to present are about evenly divided between institutionally-based entities, namely UT and ORNL, and private sector including new start-ups.

The presenters are:
