“Rocket City Summit” scheduled for mid-October in Huntsville

Rocket City SummitEnergy Huntsville and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) Huntsville Post have announced preliminary plans for the “2017 Rocket City Summit.” It will be held October 16, 17 and 18 at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center.

Among the programs highlighted are these:

“Meeting Federal Energy Mandates for Government Agencies” – This session is being organized with input from the Energy Division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Huntsville Center. Its primary focus is to educate government agencies about the federal energy mandates that they are subject to and to show them low-cost, low-risk paths to meeting those mandates. Speakers and panelists will represent government agencies with the expertise to accomplish this mission.

“Energy Investments with an ROI are Good for Business” –This session brings together companies with the technical knowledge to reduce energy operational costs with companies that understand financing of these projects to show attendees how they can participate in this new profitability model. The targeted audience is building owners and managers, facilities managers and anyone looking to improve their bottom line by reducing operational energy costs.

“Small Business Forum and Acquisition Forecasts for the US Army Corps of Engineers” – This forum is being put on by SAME and Energy Huntsville for the USACE Small Business Office specifically to show small businesses where these mandated goals create opportunity for them. Also, speakers from USACE regional offices around the country will be presenting their acquisition forecasts so that industry can start planning to help support their missions.”

“Energy Breakfast with the Primes” – USACE Energy Division prime contractors will discuss the areas in which they need help from small businesses to meet their small business contracting goals, as well has how to establish strong contracting partnerships. Teaming with a prime contractor is one of the best ways for a small business to begin supporting government contracting agencies.

​“Energy Awards Banquet” – Awards will be made by several local organizations including Nexus Energy Center, Energy Alabama, Association of Energy Engineers, Society of Military Engineers, and Energy Huntsville.
