Richmond-based Lighthouse Labs adjusting its focus to serve more advanced start-ups
Richmond, VA-based Lighthouse Labs is making some changes and evaluating others after a decade of operation.
Part of the impetus is no doubt the arrival of new Managing Director Paul Nolde in April although he told the writer of this article that conversations about some changes were already underway at the time. Two examples of future adjustments are represented in this fall’s program that will be Lighthouse Lab’s 13th cohort.
- It will be smaller than the past two or three with a half-dozen participants.
- The participants have moved beyond the creation of their initial business concept, or minimum viable product, and are ready for institutional capital fundraising.
The latest Lighthouse Labs’ accelerator participants include start-ups from Virginia and three other states in fields like health care, computer networking and more. The fall program starts in late August.
The fall program will be a hybrid of online and in-person activities. Nolde said Lighthouse Labs intends to continue to offer that mixed format as it has become the new industry standard and helps Lighthouse Labs reach more companies beyond Virginia.
