Queen City Angels reports record membership growth in 2020

It’s been a good run for Tony Shipley, Chair and Co-Fund Manager of Cincinnati-based Queen City Angels (QCA).

In a recent article in the Cincinnati Business Courier, the University of Tennessee, Knoxville graduate reported the angel group, which he launched two decades ago, grew its membership by 20 percent in 2020. It now reports 130 members, a significant increase from 49 in 2014.

Knoxville resident John Bruck – he actually resides in Corryton – is a member of QCA and helps identify local opportunities.

In addition to the stellar membership growth during the COVID-19 pandemic, Shipley was also quoted in the article as noting that: (1) five of the fund’s portfolio companies were acquired last year; and (2) 20 of the portfolio companies Paycheck Protection Program loans totaling $6 million.

QCA has invested $75 million in 95 companies since its founding.
