Qrypt Inc. exclusively licenses ORNL’s quantum random number generator technology

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has has exclusively licensed a novel cyber security technology promising a stronger defense against cyber attacks, including those posed by quantum computing, to Qrypt Inc.

According to this news release, the company will incorporate ORNL’s quantum random number generator, or QRNG, into Qrypt’s existing encryption platform, using inherent quantum randomness to create unique and unpredictable encryption keys enabling virtually impenetrable communications.

“At Qrypt’s foundation is the belief that data security is vital to the economy and the drive to produce a durable solution,” company Founder Kevin Chalker said in a LinkedIn post. “The Qrypt team collectively has decades of government service where we witnessed first-hand the contribution of national labs in defending the country from advanced technologies and theft of critical information.”
