Purdue University credited with being strong partner in a “town-gown” relationship
There’s a term that signifies the synergy that occurs between a community and its university. That phrase is the “town-gown” relationship.
According to Director of Development in West Lafayette, IN, it is rare for a massive university to work in concert with the city it inhabits as productively as Purdue University does. He attributed that cohesion in part to the working relationship the local government has created with the Purdue Research Foundation, a non-profit that strives to attract businesses to affiliate themselves with Purdue while also providing financial support to fledgling student and faculty start-ups.
