Northern KY’s UpTech start-up accelerator taking what is described as a year-long break
Cincy Inno reports that Covington, KY-based accelerator UpTech is taking a year off and will not accept any companies into its program. Last year, the accelerator partnered with Northern Kentucky University and the Aviatra Accelerator to apply for (and ultimately win) a $750,000 “Rise Grant” from the State of Kentucky. That funding was supposed to back an eighth UpTech cohort, but the accelerator was unable to come to terms on a proposal to do that, so it withdrew from plans to host a class in 2020. UpTech Board Chairman Tom Prewitt said the organization’s future is being discussed, but UpTech is not going away.
