Nominations now open for the Tom Ballard Advanced Energy Leadership Award
You’re invited to nominate someone like Tom who shows “exemplary leadership and success in championing, connecting, and strengthening Tennessee’s advanced energy economy.”
I asked Tom Ballard how many awards he has named after him, and he promised me it’s “only two.”
The first is the Ballard Innovation Award from PYA, which awards cash and services to budding start-ups. That application will open up in a few months. Ballard’s second namesake award is from the Tennessee Advanced Energy Business Council (TAEBC), which is now accepting nominations for the Thomas B. Ballard Advanced Energy Leadership Award.
“TAEBC champions the state’s advanced energy economy as an economic development and job creation strategy through sharing information, connecting stakeholders, and strengthening the industry. These pillars are personally exemplified by the tireless work of Tom Ballard, an unparalleled leader, educator, mentor, and advocate of Tennessee’s advanced energy economy,” the TAEBC said on its website.
Ballard was the first President of the TAEBC when it was first formed in 2014, and served on the board of directors through 2019, which is the first year the award was given. Last year’s winner was Tom Rogers, President and Chief Executive Officer of the University of Tennessee Research Park and Executive Director of the Spark Innovation Center.
You’re invited to nominate someone like either of the Toms who shows “exemplary leadership and success in championing, connecting, and strengthening Tennessee’s advanced energy economy.” Nominations close at 11:59 p.m. EDT on October 27.
The award winner will be announced at TAEBC’s annual Opportunities in Energy event on November 15.
