NIST seeking input on key emerging technologies

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has released a Request for Information (RFI) to help guide the development of key emerging technologies. From input received from individuals including the general public, the federal agency will provide Congress with a comprehensive analysis of the nation’s emerging technology sector including information on: (1) relevant marketplaces; (2) supply chains; (3) future investment, legislative, policy and standards needs; and (4) strategic public-private partnerships to enhance the nationwide adoption of technology development and utilization.

The emerging technology areas NIST seeks to study are: (1) artificial intelligence; (2) Internet of Things (IoT) in manufacturing as well as IoT generally; (3) quantum computing; (4) blockchain technology; (5) new and advanced materials; (6) unmanned delivery services; and (3) 3D printing. Response deadline is January 31.
