New roles announced for local residents

Here are some interesting and hopefully newsworthy items from around the region.

  • Shannon Bryant has been named as the new Community Manager at the Sky City Entrepreneur Center in Maryville. She grew-up on the Halls Crossroads area of Knox County and graduated from Maryville College with a B.A. in writing and communications. Bryant’s experience includes various positions at The Shopper-News, a Maryville-based public relations firm, and Marketing Manager for a Blount County business.
  • Bechtel has named Oak Ridge resident John Howanitz as President of the company’s Nuclear, Security & Environmental global business unit that provides engineering, construction, project management, and site operations services for the U.S., allied nations, and the civil nuclear power industry. The appointment is effective September 1 when Howanitz succeeds Barbara Rusinko, who is retiring following a nearly 40-year Bechtel career.
