NC names first-ever Assistant Secretary for Clean Energy Economic Development

State government in North Carolina made a major statement recently with the appointment of the first-ever Assistant Secretary for Clean Energy Economic Development in its Department of Commerce.

Jennifer Mundt, a former Senior Legislative Analyst for the North Carolina General Assembly, brings more than 15 years of state service to her new role. Most recently, she served as Senior Policy Advisor in the NC Department of Environmental Quality.

According to the news release about her appointment, Mundt “will guide North Carolina’s efforts to secure economic development and workforce opportunities in the increasingly important clean energy industry sector, including development of the state’s resources for offshore wind energy (OSW).” The release further noted that “the creation of a new state-level role at the Department of Commerce focused squarely on developing economic opportunities in the clean energy sector is the latest demonstration of North Carolina’s commitment to this growing industry of the future.”
