Nashville one of 10 finalists in inaugural “Smart Cities Council Readiness Challenge”

Nashville is one of two Southern cities – three if you consider Orange County, FL as part of the South – selected as finalists for the inaugural “Smart Cities Council Readiness Challenge.”

Ten communities – seven in the U.S. and three from across the globe – are included as finalists, and the Council writes in this announcement that two to three cities “will be chosen (each quarter) to lead a Readiness Cohort focusing on accelerating a project. Within each cohort, there will be as many as 30 additional cities seeking similar information.”

The announcement of the first leaders is expected January 11.

Nashville’s project was to develop the capacity to make the community’s infrastructure and social ecosystem more resilient – capable of surviving and prospering even as the community faces natural and other disasters.
