MIT’s new InnovationHQ sends a message with its location
It’s not just another innovation and entrepreneurship community albeit 50,000 square feet of new space in which to work at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). What really makes a statement for the new InnovationHQ (IHQ) that occupies five floors in a newly renovated building is the floors that it does not occupy.
According to this article, the first two floors of the building are home to the newly created MIT Welcome Center and MIT Admissions, sending a message to prospective students and visitors that innovation is encouraged at the institution.
“IHQ was designed to encourage those chance collisions which spark the innovation process amongst people and teams who may not otherwise meet,” says Fiona Murray, Associate Dean for Innovation and Inclusion in MIT’s Sloan School of Management and Co-Director of the MIT Innovation Initiative.
