Microporus LLC announces expansion at its Piney Flats facility
The new lithium-ion battery separator line furthers the company’s commitment to be a leader in the clean energy sector and meet the increasing demand for rechargeable batteries.
Microporous LLC unveiled its new lithium-ion battery separator line recently, furthering the company’s commitment to be a leader in the clean energy sector and meet the increasing demand for rechargeable batteries.
According to a release from Microporous, the “significant investment” has advanced capabilities.
“It’s a huge step forward for us,” said John Reeves, Microporous Chief Executive Officer. “It’s a product that is designed to make battery separators for lithium-ion batteries. The lithium batteries go into electric vehicles, they go into backup power, so they really are enablers for green energy and reducing emissions across the power grid.”
Reeves said that the lithium-ion battery separator line is expected to create nearly 50 jobs in the Piney Flats facility in Sullivan County.
In mid-January, the company was awarded $100 million under the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Advanced Energy Manufacturing and Recycling Grant Program. This landmark achievement underscores Microporous’ dedication to innovation in advanced energy manufacturing and strengthening domestic energy supply chain resilience.
