
Memphis airspace part of national drone research initiative
The Memphis airport used to be a major hub for the old Northwest Airlines Corporation. After Delta Air Lines merged with Northwest a decade ago, the Memphis hub was eventually closed. Now, the airport is one of only two and the only Class B airspace, the most regulated, among 10 participants in the Federal Aviation Administration’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Integration Pilot Program.
