Local Motors executes CRADA with ORNL
Phoenix-based Local Motors is one of those start-ups that clearly falls in the disruptive space. The company’s business plan allows it to design and manufacture customized vehicles, one-offs just for an individual.
Last week, Local Motors formally linked to this region with its announcement that it had executed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) to draw on the Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL).
According to its news release, the company will work with ORNL’s MDF to develop and deliver technology to produce the world’s first production 3D printed vehicle.
