Local Motors’ parent LM Industries, Airbus form new venture focused on digital mobility

Airbus, the global aerospace giant, and LM Industries, parent company of Local Motors and Launch Forth, have partnered to form Neorizon, a digital mobility start-up. The new collaborative venture is expected to provide innovative products with a focus on autonomous mobility.

Under the arrangement, both firms will bring their respective expertise in digital manufacturing, 3D printing and co-creation to create new mobility solutions for rapidly changing urban environments. The new venture will be headquartered at Airbus’ Ludwig-Bölkow-Campus near Munich, Germany, where a microfactory will be built for the company’s manufacturing operations.

Local Motors has a microfactory for its autonomous vehicles in West Knox County.
