Lineup announced for upcoming ‘Startup Mountain Summit’

The event in Johnson City will feature 12 speakers over two full days of programming.

Two founders who started their businesses in Knoxville will kick off the two days of programming at the “Startup Mountain Summit” on October 26 and 27.

John Phillips, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Primeaux Cutlery, begins the first full day of programming on the first morning, while Samantha Lane, Founder and CEO of Origami Day, speaks on the second day. Phillips wowed the audience to become the winner of the $7,000 “Crowd Favorite” during the 2022 edition of “Startup Day” in Knoxville.

They are two of a dozen speakers who will present during the event that begins with a welcome party from 6 to 10 p.m. EDT on October 25 at Watauga Brewery. All programming for the next two days will be at East Tennessee State University’s Martin Center. Organized by Johnson City non-profit FoundersForge, the “Startup Mountain Summit” will focus on combining speakers and their insights with the unique environment of the Appalachian Highlands area of Northeast Tennessee.

Phillips will speak on “Forging Your Own Path: From Scrap Metal to Augmented Reality,” while Lane’s topic is “Shape Your Time: Build Your Business Without Burning Out.”

Other speakers and their topics, in alphabetical order, are:

  • Greg Digneo, Founder and CEO of Content Guppy, “Three Start-up Marketing Strategies to Grow a Million Dollar Business.”
  • Joe McKenna, CEO of CloudWise Academy, “Building World Class Teams in the AI-Driven Economy.”
  • Asia Orangio, Founder and CEO of DemandMaven, “Ask Better Questions, Get Better Answers: How the Jobs-to-be-Done Framework Can Unlock Growth Through Insights.”
  • Rodolphe Pierre-Louis, Founder and CEO of ActionVFX, “Get Unstuck: Unlocking 7-Figure Growth.”
  • Luke Thompson, Chief Operating Officer of ActionVFX, “Small Budget, Big Impact: Leveraging Innovation in Your Start-up.”
  • Rob Walling, Founder of Tiny Seed and MicroConf, “Bootstrapping vs. Funding: Which Path Should You Take?”

There is also a panel on the topic of “Having the Strength to Lean on Others.” It will feature Jose Castillo, President of Flavor Inc.; Aundrea Wilcox, Executive Director of KOSBE; and Ryan Hayes, Lead Software Engineer at Global Payments Inc.
