LimaCorporate and TechMah Medical announce three important developments
LimaCorporate and TechMah Medical LLC announced on Friday important strides in the development of their digital platform designed to assist surgeons in delivering improved outcomes with an accessible and sustainable economic model.
TechMah Medical was founded in Knoxville in 2014 and acquired in late 2018 by LimaCorporate (see news release) in what was described then as a “milestone-based acquisition.” In Friday’s news release providing the latest updates, the two entities announced these developments:
- TechMah Medical received 510-K clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on December 28 for its proprietary “Smart SPACE Humeral 3D Positioner” for use in total shoulder arthroplasty.
- Less than two months later – February 3 to be exact, it received 510-K clearance for its “Smart SPACE Cubit Guidance” that is also for total shoulder arthroplasty.
- In between those two actions, LimaCorporate acquired the CE Mark for the Apple Macintosh OS version of the Smart SPACE 3D Virtual Planner .
As described in the latest announcement, Smart SPACE is LimaCorporate’s digital platform and features novel orthopedic technology and a rich pipeline of landscape-changing applications. Smart SPACE is a new environment designed to further enable the surgeon and enhance the predictability of surgical outcomes providing peace-of-mind to the physician.
TechMah Medical was co-founded by Mohamed Mahfouz
a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK); Michael Johnson, the company’s Senior Vice President; and Emam ElHak Abdel Fatah, TechMah Medical’s Vice President of Research and Development and a UTK Research Assistant Professor.
