Legislators considering creation of a far-reaching Alabama Innovation Commission

Alabama legislators are contemplating what is described as “a far-reaching bill which would create a public-private partnership with broad abilities to support entrepreneurship and innovation.”

Sponsored in the House of Representatives by a legislator that chairs the Alabama Innovation Commission, the bill would create an Alabama Innovation Corporation. The intent is to serve as a catalyst for transforming Alabama into a technology and innovation center, triggering growth and fostering job skills not just in urban but also rural areas.

This recent news article describes activities ranging from those that might be viewed as traditional such as creation of an Alabama Innovation Fund to much broader ones like spearheading a 21st century transportation system for the state.
