Launch Tennessee announces recipients of latest SBIR/STTR matching awards
Megan O’Connor, Chief Executive Officer of Nth Cycle, one of the start-ups in Cohort 2 of Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s “Innovation Crossroads” (IC) initiative, is the face of a recent post from Launch Tennessee spotlighting companies that have been able to take advantage of the state’s matching program for the federal Small Business Innovation (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) awards.
A total of 28 companies – Nth Cycle and five other companies that are participating in the IC initiative – were recipients of some portion of the $3 million that was made available this year, a 100 percent increase from last year in the program funded by the General Assembly and approved by the Governor. Other recipients from the East Tennessee area included 490 BioTech; Active Energy Systems; Branch Technology; eSpin Technologies; Fort Defiance Industries; Neptune Fluid Flow Systems; PreTel; Purist; SkyNano; and Third Dimension Technologies.
