“Reaching Recovery: Pregnancy and Addiction in East Tennessee,” the latest documentary from Land Grant Films, will screen this Friday as part of the fourth annual Knoxville Film Festival.
Like many other films produced by the University of Tennessee-affiliated initiative (UT), “Reaching Recovery” examines the problem of opiate addiction in East Tennessee and documents the struggles addicted mothers face in finding, entering and completing treatment programs.
We have previously posted articles about the work of UT’s Nick Geidner and his students, starting with the “Medal of Honor” project in 2014 and a more recent one for the Metro Drug Coalition. The Assistant Professor is championing a philosopohy of giving back in the rich tradition of land grant universities.
“Reaching Recovery” shows at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Regal Downtown West Cinema. For more information, click here.
