Knoxville ranks in top 20 cities for people moving in and other business news

Knoxville, other Tennessee cities rank in top areas people moved to in 2021

Moving services company Hire A Helper puts out a report annually tracking inbound and outbound moves across the country. A total of 17 percent of the Americans that moved last year went to a different state. Several Tennessee cities made the list for the highest ratio of people moving into the state. Of the Tennessee cities on the list, Memphis was the only city with a net loss, with 42.4 percent more people moving out. Nashville, Murfreesboro, and Franklin were in the top 50 cities for positive net growth. Knoxville ranked 12th on the list, with 43.1 percent more people moving in. Finally, Clarksville was the highest-ranked Tennessee city at number 10 with a net growth of 47.8 percent. Tennessee ranked at number six for the states with the highest rate of people moving with a 20 percent ratio. Read more of the study here.

Business Openings and New Developments

The Brass Pearl, a new oyster bar and seafood restaurant, is set to open in Market Square in February, according to a post from Inside of Knoxville. The owners behind the new restaurant also own Chivo and Stock and Barrel. The restaurant still has some openings for front and back of house. Read more in this Inside of Knoxville article.

In another article from Inside of Knoxville, a new development next to the planned Knoxville Smokies baseball stadium has been announced. The new residential building will be named for Beauford Delaney, a Knoxville artist who died in Paris, France in 1979. Partners Development is putting together the project, which will cost an estimated $45 million and will be completed around 2024.

The Knoxville Recovery Center celebrated the grand opening of its location on Anderson Pike on January 12. The facility offers mental health and addiction treatment.

Garrison Logistics celebrated its grand opening on January 13. The business is headquartered in Alabama and helps clients with managing freight shipments.

New Hires

The Trust Company of Tennessee has hired Karlo Rodriguez as a Relationship Manager working in its Knoxville office. He has more than 15 years of financial, management, and administrative experience. “Karlo’s expertise in relationship management and focus on serving others will enhance our client relationships and connections in our community,” said Daniel Carter, President of The Trust Company of Tennessee.
