KEC accepting applications for 2015 “MediaWorks”

MediaWorksAfter a successful first year, the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center (KEC) is now accepting applications for Version 2 of its “MediaWorks” accelerator.

The application deadline for those interested in being considered for the eight available slots is April 18. More information can be found here or on this KEC flyer (MediaWorks Flyer).

KEC’s Jim Biggs and Jonathan Sexton have announced some changes to the program that builds on the 2014 inaugural “MediaWorks” program. Between the starting date (May 11) and “Demo Day” on August 11, participants will spend about 150 hours focused on building product, attracting users, and creating an investable story.

The 12-week program will include monthly “Weekend Sprints,” where local business professionals will help the teams, much like the highly popular 48-hour launch concept.

This year’s format calls for the teams to be onsite at KEC twice a week for three-hour evening sessions on Monday and Thursdays in addition to the three weekend sprints. They will also be expected to participate in required meetings with general mentors, technical mentors, and KEC staff.
