Kauffman Foundation’s President and CEO announces retirement

Wendy Guillies has announced her retirement from the Kauffman Foundation after serving with the organization for 22 years including the past eight as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). According to this announcement, she will leave the Foundation in the fall to pursue new ventures and spend time with her family.

Many entrepreneurs and those who support them follow the publications of the Kansas City-based non-profit that is also heavily focused on the region that it calls home.

Before becoming CEO, Guillies served as Vice President of Communications. Among her achievements was her role to help develop “Global Entrepreneurship Week.” Launched in Kansas City in 2008, it has expanded to more than 180 countries and engages 10 million people annually.

Less than two months ago, the Kauffman Foundation launched the latest iteration of “America’s New Business Plan” for 2022. It is described as a nonpartisan, practical policy roadmap to provide increased access to the funding, opportunity, knowledge, and support entrepreneurs across America need.

Board Chair John Sherman and Chair-Elect Esther George will begin the search process soon.
