It’s showtime for the “Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator”
Today is “Demo Day” for the nine start-ups participating in the second cohort of the “Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator,” the only Techstars accelerator in the world focused on energy.
The in-person event culminates 13 weeks where the Founders from seven states and Canada worked with more than 120 corporate and community mentors from across Alabama.
According to this article, the “Techstars EnergyTech Accelerator” has been one of the most successful in the history of Techstars with participants in the inaugural cohort raising more than $30 million in capital. Four of those companies are now raising seed-series B funding, and four have committed to maintaining a presence in Alabama.
The accelerator is supported by Alabama Power, Economic Development Partnership of Alabama (EDPA), Alabama Department of Commerce, Altec, PowerSouth, University of Alabama and Southern Research. The supporters play a key role in the accelerator process, with the common goal of growing the Alabama startup ecosystem.
