IperionX secures user agreement with ORNL

We have some additional follow-up information on last week’s article about IperionX and the company’s ambitious project to mine titanium and other rare earth minerals from earth-rich, heavy mineral sand deposits located in the West Tennessee community of Camden.

Charlotte Inno reports (article here, but subscription required) that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has approved a user agreement between IperionX and Oak Ridge National Laboratory to use DOE’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility. The work will focus on 3D printing and other additive-manufacturing processes to fabricate titanium parts for the transportation sector, including heavy trucks and aircraft components, where that material has an advantage over traditional aluminum and stainless-steel parts.

IperionX is a critical-metals mining and manufacturing start-up based in Charlotte.
