IACMI provides more details on recent DOE award

IACMI, officially the Institute for Advanced Carbon Composites Manufacturing Innovation, has provided additional information on a recent grant announcement from the U. S. Department of Energy. The award was made to Collaborative Composite Solutions Corporation, a wholly owned not-for profit subsidiary of the University of Tennessee Research Foundation that operates IACMI.

According to IACMI’s news release issued yesterday, the $2.7 million will be used to develop and validate technology that will reduce the cost of manufacturing high-performance carbon fiber by 25 percent to make composite natural gas or hydrogen fuel tanks to power cars and trucks.
