Grow BioplasticsIt’s another big win for Knoxville’s Grow Bioplastics. The start-up was named one of four finalists in the “2017 Farm Bureau Rural Entrepreneurship Challenge.”

The announcement was made yesterday in Washington, DC.

Grow Bioplastics was co-founded by students in the Bredesen Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Graduate Education that is a joint initiative of the University of Tennessee and Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The company offers renewable, biodegradable products that eliminate oil-based plastics for farmers, greenhouse and nursery managers, and home gardeners.

As a finalist in the Challenge, Grow Bioplastics won $15,000 and the opportunity to win an additional $15,000 in the national finals in early January.
