Global Action Platform schedules tech transfer-focused panel next week in Nashville

Nashville’s Global Action Platform has announced an event next week focused on technology commercialization.

The “Tennessee University-Business Showcase” is set for 3:30 to 5 p.m. CDT October 15 at the offices of the Waller law firm, 511 Union Street, Floor 26. Jennifer Caldwell, Group Leader for Technology Commercialization at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, will moderate a four-person panel under the theme of “The Value of Tech Transfer in Regional Economies.”

As noted in our two-part teknovation.biz series from June 2018 (Part 1 and Part 2), Scott Massey, GAP’s Chair and Chief Executive Officer, explains that the organization is working to connect business, university, government, and investors in advancing the emerging innovation economy of Middle Tennessee.

Panelists are:

  • Eric Smith, Enterprise Operations Manager with the U.S. Economic Development Administration;
  • Ian McClure, Director of the Office of Technology Commercialization at the University of Kentucky;
  • Scott Osborne, Vice President for Corporate Engagement at The Ohio State University; and
  • John Barfield, Director of Engagement and Visibility at Tennessee State University.

The event is another in a periodic series of programs the GAP sponsors to focus more attention on its mission.
