The Georgia Institute of Technology has named its first Vice President of Commercialization and Chief Commercialization Officer.
Raghupathy “Siva” Sivakumar, a Professor who co-founded multiple technology companies, has been Director of CREATE-X, a Georgia Tech initiative to instill entrepreneurial confidence in students and empower them to launch successful start-ups. Since last November, he’s been serving as Interim Commercialization Officer.
In six years, more than 5,000 students have started 300-plus ventures with a total valuation of more than $750 million, many of those as a result of CREATE-X. Sivakumar is also a successful entrepreneur, credited with launching three tech companies – EG Technology, Asankya, and StarMobile. All were acquired.
