FunLPro finalist in Plastics News’ inaugural awards program

Knoxville-based FunLPro, winner of the inaugural pitch competition at last year’s “Start-up Day Knoxville,” been named a finalist in Plastics News’ “2016 Caps & Closures Innovation Awards” competition. Ironically, this is that publication’s inaugural award.
The award was established to honor the best new caps and closures products launched on the commercial market in the past 12 months. Entries were open to plastics processors that have worked with brand owners and other partners to launch new caps and closures for retail packaging.
“This is certainly an incredible opportunity for our technology to be viewed and evaluated by the largest players in our industry,” said Bryan Crosby who co-founded the firm with his father. “Plastics News is the largest trade journal within our ecosystem and to have been recognized and invited to an award event this early on says a lot about the relevance of our technology.”
FunLPro’s has a patented product that allows users to safely, accurately and easily dispense fluids into difficult areas, thanks to a novel funnel that is built into the container.
“This event should set us on a path to the type of growth we aspire to achieve,” Crosby said. “Although we are still very focused on improving the engineering and design of our closure technology, diligently protecting and enforcing our IP, and gaining traction regionally, we are excited about the opportunity and very much look forward to the networking opportunities and potential relationships we will have the opportunity to make.”
The awards session will be held as part of the 2016 Plastics Caps & Closures Conference set for the end of August at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park Hotel. The awards session will begin at 11:15 a.m. on August 31.
