Franklin, Knoxville only cities on Livability’s ranking of “Top 100 Best Places to Live”

Only two Tennessee cities – Franklin and Knoxville – made Livability’s latest annual ranking of the “Top 100 Best Places to Live in America.”

For the 2022 listing, the site’s Editors examined more than 2,300 cities based on more than 50 data points that are grouped into eight categories that measure a city’s economic stability, housing, amenities, infrastructure, demographics, social and civic capital,  and health care. This process results in the calculation of each city’s LivScore. This year’s report was focused on mid-sized cities – populations of 500,000 or less.

Franklin was ranked #13, while Knoxville placed #98. Perhaps not surprising, North Carolina had five ranked cities. Topping the Tar Heel list was Raleigh (#12) followed by nearby Asheville (#19), Cary (#44), Durham (#45), and Greensboro (#72).  Other cities of note in the area included Cincinnati (#42), Huntsville (#84), and Lexington (#93).
