Four new restaurants to open in downtown Knoxville

Mark your calendars, foodies, for all the new food stores and restaurants set to open in downtown Knoxville over the next few weeks.

Oyster bar and restaurant STIR will open in the Old City on July 31. Made-from-scratch food, hand-crafted cocktails, artisanal ice, and an expansive oyster and raw seafood bar will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, plus weekend brunch. The grand opening of the brick-and-mortar location of Smash City is set for August 4. This popular spot is moving from Marble City Market to Central St. where they’ll be serving up delicious smash burgers, mouth-watering sandwiches, crispy hand-cut fries, and craveable house-made sauces. Beer, sodas, snacks, candies, ice cream, lottery tickets, and more. The shelves are stocked at Ian’s Market on the 100 block of Gay St, and the convenience store is expected to open any day. The casual Indian restaurant planned for next door has a targeted opening of late summer. [145 S Gay St]

Tasty new pizza will soon be available on Gay Street with the planned opening of DiCarlo’s Pizza in August. Serving up unique Ohio Valley Style pizza since 1945, this is the restaurant’s first location in Tennessee. Follow them on Instagram and Facebook for details on opening day. [524 S Gay St]
