FLUIX Inc. launches new product that significantly reduces energy consumption in server rooms

Product comes after a collaboration that started when a mentor for two different Techstars accelerators introduced FLUIX and Solideon.

FLUIX Inc., the Florida-based start-up that participated in the inaugural cohort of the “Techstars Industries of the Future Accelerator” in Knoxville in 2022 and is a member of the inaugural cohort of The Company Lab’s “Sustainable Mobility Accelerator powered by gener8tor” currently underway in Chattanooga, announced a significant product launch on April 15.

Abhishek “Abhi” Sastri, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, said the company’s latest feat in artificial intelligence (AI) is AIMI, an autonomous AI product that has significantly reduced HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) energy consumption by 65 percent in a server room environment.

“This pioneering initiative optimizes energy use and maintains optimal server performance, leading to an impressive 40 percent cut in overall site energy usage,” Sastri said. “Through the innovation of our own Eco-AI, we are enabling traditional AI to be more efficient by optimizing the data centers that host them.”

According to FLUIX’s news release, Solideon, a Berkeley, CA-based innovator in automated manufacturing, allowed FLUIX to conduct this validation in a setting reflective of a standard data center’s complexity and demands. The experiment’s compelling outcomes prompted Solideon to extend a $24,000 letter of intent to FLUIX for incorporating AIMI’s AI CoPilot into its manufacturing processes.

Despite differing from the server room scenario requirements, Solideon and FLUIX discovered that AIMI’s automated solutions could further enhance Solideon’s cleanroom operations, optimizing cleanliness and resource efficiency. Solideon’s state-of-the-art technology brings unprecedented precision and speed to domestic construction, reshaping production methodologies for intricate geometries. This collaboration with FLUIX marks a significant stride in marrying AI-driven operational efficiency with groundbreaking manufacturing techniques.

FLUIX’s AIMI dynamically optimizes facility HVAC systems with advanced, self-learning AI models. By analyzing environmental data – ambient and server temperatures, relative humidity, and power usage from both facility and IT loads – AIMI intelligently and autonomously adjusts data center HVAC settings, including computer room air conditioning (CRAC) setpoints. This responsive system lowers power consumption and carbon emissions and reduces water usage, offering a sustainable solution for data center management.

AIMI significantly outperformed traditional air conditioning systems in server rooms by optimizing HVAC energy use, achieving about a 65 percent reduction. Unlike conventional systems that operate based on preset conditions without real-time feedback, AIMI dynamically adjusts cooling based on server room and ambient conditions. It intelligently turns off unnecessary cooling elements when servers are optimally cool and autonomously turns systems back on when needed. AIMI can also fine-tune variable scroll compressors and fan speeds, further enhancing the efficiency of existing HVAC units. These traditional systems prioritize continuous operation to prevent downtime, lacking AIMI’s advanced environmental understanding. AIMI’s ability to autonomously manage cooling, ensuring energy savings and maintaining uptime without compromising safety, demonstrates FLUIX’s commitment to innovation in data center management.

Ironically, both FLUIX and Solideon were participating in separate Techstars accelerator programs when they were introduced to each other via a mentor to both companies.
