
First Flight Venture Center celebrates 30 years, announces plans for future
First Flight Venture Center, the Research Triangle Park-based science and technology business incubator, recently its 30th anniversary by announcing big plans for the next 30 years. Those plans include:
- A new building on existing First Flight land to expand lab space, consolidate prototyping assets, and centralize programming resources;
- A new accelerator – Wheels Up – that is a comprehensive 12-week cohort-based, sector-focused accelerator for science start-ups; and
- A new capital fund to provide critical financial support for the long runway science-focused companies face.
The new accelerator will be a collaboration with the Biomedical Research and Development Authority (BARDA) that will provide funds for participating companies and $100,000 in prize money.
