Famed shoe designer to keynote this year’s “3686” event

Stuart Weitzman has been honored extensively for his unique approach to entrepreneurship.

Famed women’s shoe designer Stuart Weitzman will keynote this year’s “3686” conference in early September in Nashville.

A graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1963, his passion for design has been a lifelong pursuit, leading to the internationally renowned shoe company that bears his name. He has been honored extensively for his unique approach to entrepreneurship, and for his uncompromising commitment to prioritizing function as an integral element of fashion.

His presentation is titled “An Entrepreneurial Journey on the Road Less Traveled.”

The bulk of the programming will take place on September 10. Sessions, subject to change, include:

  • AI for legacy industries: Learn how artificial intelligence is set to transform industries including health care, insurance, and human resources.
  • Climate tech: beyond the buzz: Investors, start-ups, and corporate leaders are all seeking solutions to the biggest issue facing our planet. Hear how they’re working together on cutting edge solutions.
  • Going Global: opportunities for expansion, collaboration, and research partnerships outside the U.S.: If you’re a start-up thinking about expanding beyond U.S. borders, learn about opening your business to new markets.
  • Meet the mayors: The top executives from Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville will discuss what innovation is currently taking place in their cities and what they hope to see for the future.
  • Pitch competition: 10 companies will pitch their businesses for a chance to win investment.
  • Tech and sports: Dig into how Tennessee’s professional sports teams are thinking about tech and fan experiences.
  • The TENN: where are they now? A panel of graduates from The TENN, Launch Tennessee’s accelerator program, will cover topics such as using tech to streamline hiring, how to make a successful company exit, and how to grow from a two-person to a 60-person start-up.
